I moved a year and a half ago, and I couldn't believe how much my husband and I had collected. Our former house had so much storage space in it, that it was easy to keep everything and not notice the accumulation. We have downsized, but we have noticed the accumulation has started again. Help!

Buy Filters for Your Air Conditioner Vents
Question: I am seeing black stuff on my air conditioner vents.
Answer: Besides making sure you change the air return ducts regularly, usually once a month, you should know you can buy filters for your vents, too.
I have seen them at Home Depot. They come in packages of about six and are very inexpensive. You can slide them between the cover and the vent adjustment flaps, or whatever they are called. That way, they are out of sight.
These are some things you should do immediately. Also, you should investigate to see if there is a more serious problem.

As you can see, in the first quarter of this year, the price of a home in the Knoxville area dropped 21% from the first quarter 2008 and is 2.2% lower than the fourth quarter of 2008. The number of home sales in the first quarter of 2009 was 29% less than the number in the same time period in 2008. It was also 16.5% lower than sales in the fourth quarter of 2008.

If condos are included, the average sale price of a house or condo was 20% less in the first quarter of 2009 than it was in the first quarter of 2008. It also represents an 8% drop from the fourth quarter of 2008. The number of sales in the first quarter of 2009 were down 32% from the first quarter in 2008 and 17% from the fourth quarter of 2008.
